FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • When do the races start?
    The 8K race starts at 8:30 am, on 2nd Street, just east of Sibley Street and the 2K race starts immediately after.
  • Where do we park?
    There are public parking lots available near the start of the race. You can also park on side streets either on the east or west side of Highway 61 and south of 2nd Street. Pay careful attention to posted signage; some parking restrictions will be in effect near the starting area for the race and along the race course. Click here for a map of the general area and suggested parking areas.
  • Can we bring pets?
    Well behaved pets on leashes are allowed. All city ordinances regarding pets must be adhered to at all times. It is the pet owner's responsibility to care for and pick up after their pet. Please consider the extremely large crowd and the temperament of your pet when choosing to bring them to the event.
  • Can we bring strollers for our children?
    Yes! Strollers and children are welcome! This is a family friendly event!
  • Do we have to register children for the race?
    Children that actually run the race should fill out a registration form and pay the entry fee. Any child that is in a stroller or wagon is not charged. PLEASE NOTE: Children must be accompanied by an adult guardian on the course.
  • Can we wear rollerblades or bike the event?
    For the safety of the participants and spectators, bikes and roller blades are not allowed on the course! Thanks for your cooperation!
  • Is this an officially timed race?
    There is a race clock at the start/finish line, however no official race results are posted or tabulated for the event. This is a family fun run so we draw many serious runners, but we also have many runners/walkers that are not quite so serious. We all know who the real winner of Gobble Gait is, right? It's Hastings Family Service of course!
  • Are there any awards for the top finishers?
    We offer a small prize to the top male and female finishers. We do not have any age group results.
  • When can I pick up my T-Shirt/Packet?
    We have a variety of times/locations for you to pick up your T-shirt and packets. Click here for more information!
  • Do I get a race shirt if I register for the 2K?
    Race shirts are not included in the 2K registration; race shirts are included in the 8K registration only. Participants are welcome to register for the 8K in order to get a shirt and then run or walk the 2K course.
  • When does race-day registration begin?
    Race day registration begins at 7:00 am at the END of Ramsey Street in downtown Hastings just north of 2nd Street, adjacent to Hastings Family Service.
  • What does the "Family Registration" mean for $40?"
    This entry fee is for immediate family members to run the 2K Race. There is no family discount for the 8K race. It is meant for immediate family members living in the SAME household.

Since 1997, Gobble Gait has been a committee of community volunteers.  In 2011, the committee formed Gobble Gait, LLC, a Minnesota nonprofit LLC, a subsidiary of the Hastings Family Service, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  All proceeds raised by Gobble Gait, LLC from its annual event are delivered to Hastings Family Service to be used by Hastings Family Service to support its programs and services.  If you would like to make a charitable contribution to Gobble Gait, please make your check payable to Hastings Family Service.
