Frequently Asked Questions

When do the races start?

The 8K race starts at 8:30 am, on 2nd Street, just east of Sibley Street.  The 3K (new in 2019) race starts immediately after the start of the 8K race from the same location.

Where do we park?

You can park on any of the side streets either on the EAST or WEST side of Highway 61 south of 2nd Street.  There are no parking restrictions in Hastings, except for the area on 2nd Street between Hwy 61 east to the rail road tracks.  This is the starting area for the race.  Click here for a map of the general area and suggested parking areas.

Can we bring pets?

Well behaved pets on leashes are allowed.  All city ordinances regarding pets must be adhered to at all times. It is the pet owner's responsibility to care for and pick up after their pet.  Please consider the extremely large crowd and the temperament of your pet when choosing to bring them to the event.

Can we bring strollers for our children?

Yes!  Strollers and children are welcome!  This is a family friendly event!

Do we have to register children for the race?

Children that actually run the race should fill out a registration form and pay the entry fee.  Any child that is in a stroller or wagon is not charged. PLEASE NOTE:  Children must be accompanied by an adult guardian on the course.

Can we wear rollerblades or bike the event?

For the safety of the participants and spectators, bikes and roller blades are not allowed on the course!  Thanks for your cooperation!

Is this an officially timed race?

There is a race clock at the start/finish line, however no official race results are posted or tabulated for the event.  This is a family fun run so we draw many serious runners, but we also have many runners/walkers that are not quite so serious.  We all know who the real winner of Gobble Gait is, right?  It's Hastings Family Service of course!

Are there any awards for the top finishers?

We offer trohies to the top male and female finishers.  We do not have any age group results.

When can I pick up my T-Shirt/Packet?

We have a variety of times/locations for you to pick up your T-shirt and packets. Click here for more information!

When does race-day registration begin?

Race day registration begins at 7:00 am at the END of Ramsey Street in downtown Hastings just north of 2nd Street, adjacent to Hastings Family Service.

What does the "Family Registration" mean for $30?

This entry fee is for immediate family members to run the 3K Race. There is no family discount for the 8K race.

Last year at the race there seemed to be a lot of construction going on in Downtown Hastings. Can we expect more of the same?

Good news! Most of the Riverfront Renaissance project is complete! If you're not from the area, and it's your first time back since last year, you're in for a treat!

This was a great list, but my question wasn't answered!
